한입 one bite

Korean in chunks.

Hanipi teaches Korean a few words at a time, in the order a conversation needs them, and one grammar rule at a time once you have the words to use it.

먹었어요

  1. eat · stem
  2. past
  3. 어요 polite
One word, three parts: a stem, a tense and a politeness level. Korean composes — Hanipi teaches the parts, then how they stack.

How it teaches

The same principle at every scale: nothing is asked of you before its parts are in place.

  1. m
  2. eo
  3. k

Letters first

Hangul is taught letter by letter. ㅁ, ㅓ and ㄱ stack into one block, and the alphabet trainer brings back the letters you struggle with more often, on a spaced-repetition schedule. A cheat sheet is one tap away, any time.

저는 커피를 마셔요
I coffee drink

Words before sentences, one rule at a time

Every new word is introduced on its own before you meet it inside a sentence. Grammar arrives only when you have the words it needs, explained in a paragraph and used at once. A session opens with a few things you already know, peaks in the middle and lands on lighter work — at most eight new words a time.

  1. Level 1 The sentence and its glue
  2. Level 2 Time, negation, questions
  3. Level 3 Joining, ability, register

Grammar deep-dives with drills

Thirty-five lessons in three levels. Each has a cheat sheet and drills, and you can explain a rule in your own words and have the explanation checked.

Reading aloud, word by word

A short passage is composed from sentences you have met and words on your own deck. You read it a line at a time; your phone's speech recogniser listens, and a word it heard differently is marked on the line — tap it to hear it spoken. Optional, and the microphone is asked for only when you first tap it.

The AI tutor

Most of Hanipi runs on your phone and costs nothing per use. Some judgements arithmetic cannot make: whether a differently phrased answer still means the same thing, whether your explanation of a rule is right, the next turn of a roleplay, a passage to read aloud composed from what you know. Those run on cloud AI, and each one is a moment.

  • Repeats are free: a cached answer costs nothing.
  • The count is on screen while you study and resets every Monday.
  • When it runs out, the exercise still works. You lose the AI, not the lesson.
